Clayton Krahn

Co-Owner
Coach, Player Skills & Development

With twenty years of coaching experience across diverse settings, I have honed my expertise in skill instruction and team coaching. Through meticulous skill progression, stacking, and blending, I help players expand their roles and achieve greater success in hockey. I believe in player-centered development that is fun, exciting, meaningful, game-transferable, creative, and competitive, with character building as a core component. My journey began as Head Instructor U5-U20 with Monoclub in Taiwan (2003-2004) and as an Instructor for Skinner Hockey (2004). I have been the Owner and Operator of Clayton Krahn’s Hockey Academy since 2005 and served as an Instructor for Puckmasters Langley, Canlan, and Chiefs Development Group (2005-2006). I was Head Instructor for the CCM Guts and Glory North American Tour with Skinner Hockey (2007-2008) and have been a Head and Assistant Coach for various Chilliwack Minor Hockey Rep Teams since 2008.

As Chilliwack Minor Hockey Skills Coach since 2011 and Program Coordinator and Head Instructor for Chilliwack Hockey Skills Academy with Hockey Canada. (2013-2020), I have continually focused on skill development.

Additionally, I have been a Skills
Instructor for Chilliwack Chiefs Development Group since 2016, an Assistant Coach for the U18. Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (2022-2023), Head Coach for U15 A1 (2023-2024), and will be the Head Coach for U18 A1 (2024-2025).

Drew Martz

Co-Owner Coach, Goalie Development

Drew has an extensive background in hockey both as a player, goalie and coach and was recently the U11 A1 head coach for Mission Minor Hockey and will be the U13 A1 head coach for Chilliwack this 2024 season. Drew has over 10 years of hockey coaching including Fraser Valley thunderbirds, Chilliwack Jets, Chilliwack Chiefs, and Chilliwack Minor Hockey rep levels.

Drew has experience coaching with the Chilliwack hockey academy, monster goal tenders, net drive hockey and also part of the Chilliwack and Abbostford Minor Hockey development programs.  Drew has 5 years of Junior hockey playing experience with the Abbotsford pilots, Chilliwack chiefs, Merrit centennials and port Coquitlam buckaroos.

Derek Janzen

Coach, Player & Goalie Development

Derek was born and raised in Abbotsford. He started playing hockey at the age of 10 and quickly excelled, playing the highest level possible throughout his minor hockey years. At the age of 15 he was drafted by the WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds but decided to take the BCHL route and pursue a college education. At 16 Derek was selected to play for Team BC in the Canada Winter Games before cracking the Chilliwack Chiefs line up and securing a full ride scholarship to
Division 1-Northern Michigan University by the age of 17. Derek earned several awards while playing for the Chiefs, including team MVP (2x), Fan Favorite (2x), and was a 2x BCHL All[1]Star. After College Derek returned home to Chilliwack where he lives and works today.  His playing days are over but his passion for the game remains. He considers himself a student of the game and is eager to give back and pass his knowledge on to future generations.

Troy Stordy

Troy Stordy is entering his third season in the BCEHL as general manager with the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds program.

Stordy has served as the vice president of Mission Minor Hockey Association since 2010, while also serving as the development director and a coach in the association since joining MMHA in 2010.


Stordy, who currently lives in Mission, owns and operates the Fraser Valley Kings Hockey
Program.

Nathan Martz

Coach, Player Development

Nathan played his minor Hockey in Chilliwack before moving on to play Junior Hockey for the Chilliwack Chiefs. After his Junior career he earned a scholarship to play college hockey in the NCAA for the University of New Hampshire. From there he played professionally in the ECHL for three years before playing seven years overseas in various countries. He was also fortunate
enough to be selected by the New York Rangers in the 2000 draft. After his playing career concluded Nathan has coached at various levels. He was a part time assistant for the Chilliwack Chiefs for three years. He also coached with the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds zone program for three years, two years as head coach of the U15 program and one year as an assistant for the U18 program.  On top of coaching he has worked in player development/skills for 11 years. This includes four years with the Chilliwack Middle/Elementary School Hockey Academy and 4 years with the Sardis Senior School Hockey Academy. Nathan also works with numerous players running private sessions.  Nathan is very excited to pass on his experiences as a player and a coach to the next generation!

Joe Bleackley

Joe has extensive coaching experience, with 7 seasons in minor hockey, 5 seasons of spring
hockey, and 7 years in rep lacrosse. Recently, Joe was head coach of the Chilliwack U11 A1 team and coach for the FV 2013 Knights . Joe and his wife Chrissy are also the founders of “The Shinny Cup” which hosts small local tournaments and provides year-round weekly development programs.
